Lesbian and Gay Chorus of Washington, DC to Present Spring Concert Benefiting Hannah House on June 21

WASHINGTON, DC -- In collaboration with All Souls Unitarian Church Jubilee Singers, the Lesbian & Gay Chorus of Washington, D.C. (LGCW) will present a concert on June 21, 2009, 4 PM, Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, 4th and Independence Avenue SE, to benefit Hannah House, a DC non- profit organization that provides structured, caring homes and supportive services for homeless women with and without children. The concert will feature a musical coast-to-coast trip from Broadway to Hollywood and will be followed by a spaghetti dinner for the audience. The concert is sponsored in part by a grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Founded in 1979, Hannah House helps residents build healthy families and work toward their goals, which may include life-long recovery from addiction, an improved sense of self, and independent living. Hannah House will receive the net ticket proceeds from the concert.
The LGCW has collaborated with All Souls Unitarian Jubilee Singers in joint concert appearances, at religious services, and at other community events since 2001. The two groups share a commitment to social justice which is embodied in their individual repertoires and presence in the community.
The LGCW offers a complimentary ticket program for those who cannot easily access the arts. The program will distribute tickets for the concert to 40 non-profit, service agencies and organizations.
The concert will be held at the Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, 4th and Independence Ave, SE (Metro stop: Capitol South -- Blue/Orange Line). The concert will be interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired. The Church is accessible.
