“I was told I would never regain custody of my two little girls. Through the Reunification Program at Hannah House, I have full custody of my children. I married my husband while at Hannah House, moved into an apartment and our children are with us!”

“I came to Hannah House unable to read and with three children with special needs. The education resources and on-site parenting classes enabled me to learn how to read and address the needs of my children. Today I have a full time job, my own apartment and yes…my GED!”

“I have lived with mental illness most of my life and with chronic substance abuse. As a direct result of my using, I was separated from one of my sons. When I entered Hannah House, I was able to start the reunification process with my son. I am  also participating in a dual diagnosis program to address my mental health and drug addiction. While at Hannah House I received my certification as a food handler and I have moved into a  beautiful apartment with my sons. Thanks to Hannah House, I am finally learning how to live!”

“At the age of 53, I have spent most of my life in and out of the penal system. Upon returning to society, I realized I didn’t know where to start. My drug addiction and the fears of facing life on life’s terms never allowed me to think I deserved anything better until I arrived at Hannah House. Upon my arrival I was referred to my current mental health provider which enabled me to receive my certification as a food handler. I am currently living in independent housing. I am grateful today because of my experience at Hannah House and I am proud to be an Alumna.”

“Most of my life I used drugs and I had no knowledge of the disease of addiction.  I continued to work and go to school not realizing the impact this disease would have on my life. The intensive case management, weekly meetings and mandatory budget and savings program at Hannah House, gave me the structure I needed as well as help me become self sufficient.  Utilizing all of the services that were provided, I found out that change is good and if you wanted to, you could change. Thanks to Hannah House, I did!”

“I always worked and took care of my family - I just didn’t know how to stay clean and sober from drugs. I called myself a “functioning addict” not realizing I was slowly killing myself. When I entered Hannah House, I was surrounded by individuals who wanted recovery for me more than I wanted it for myself. The patience and commitment from staff to work with me and guide my life toward wholeness enabled me to understand the disease of addiction.  As a result, I turned my thinking around and made the necessary adjustments to my life. I know I was blessed with living angels who guided me down that path, and for this I am forever grateful.”
